#8738 new enhancement

Ticketlink in text mail is not recognized

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: hasienda
Priority: normal Component: AnnouncerPlugin
Severity: normal Keywords: configuration link
Cc: rjollos, doki_pen Trac Release: 0.12

Description

Generated text mails contains the word URL: followed by the link. Mail programs (e.g. Outlook) do not recognize it as a link. The same applies for the project link. The corresponding template is in this file: http://trac-hacks.org/browser/announcerplugin/trunk/announcer/templates/ticket_email_plaintext.txt

  • Priority changed from normal to high

Noticed the same problem, using the iPad email client.

The attached patch fixes it for me.

As the format without URL: is what trac notifications themselves use, my opinion is that this should be applied ASAP.

If there is a good reason to have the URL: prefix in some setups, I suggest making it a configuration option, and prepending URL: to the relevant links in the formatters code, instead of having it in the template.

  • Cc rjollos doki_pen added; anonymous removed
  • Keywords configuration link added
  • Owner changed from doki_pen to hasienda
  • Priority changed from high to normal

This is bad in terms of usability, right. But simply put we have too many other, more critical issues to deal with for now, sorry. I'm forced to skip this and come back later.

For the patch itself, it looks like no-one seems to see issues with removing URL:-prefix unconditionally. So I guess, that we'll do that in the end. Thanks for contributing this suggestion.
