[http://www.drproject.org DrProject] is a classroom-friendly branch of Trac that supports multiple projects, mailing lists, web-based administration, tagging, and tag clouds.  It is being used in classrooms at the [http://www.utoronto.ca University of Toronto] and [http://www.queensu.ca Queen's University].
