Make parameters for total and full settings

Description

Rather than one-size-fits-all, it'd be nice to say split the parameter on commas or something and separate out per-call overrides for the number of items to fetch.

I've attached the patch I used to make this happen for me, but I'm no python expert so someone might want to tidy it up.
