This plugin is deprecated in Trac 0.10. InterMapTxt provides the same functionality.

I can't understand what you mean by "programmatically". I suspect that InterMapTxt provides everything you need, because its functionality appears to be identical to that of GeneralLinkSyntaxPlugin.

    1 Even though there is the InterMapTxt method to add links, I still needed a way to programatically add links (perhaps there is a way with InterMap, dunno) so I updated this to 0.11 and Genshi.
