Collapsable sections in table of contents via javascript

I am planning to develop a feature for the TOC macro that would allow simple javascript show/hide menus for the sections, similar to how dokuwiki does it (eg: ​http://javapathfinder.sourceforge.net/JPFwiki/doku.php?id=about:wiki). Before I start I was hoping to get some guidance from you so that it would increase my chances of this being accepted into the project. I dont know if this has been considered before or how feasible it is. Any advice would be appreciated.
