Loging to smtp server must be optional

Description

On my installation there are no needs to do a loging to smtp server. Can you made such feature optional?

I make patch to resolve this problem

Action
as closed The owner will remain Stephen Hansen.
The resolution will be deleted. Next status will be 'reopened'.
