Gettext plugin to allow online translations

Reported by: rbistolfi <rbistolfi@…> Owned by: anybody
Priority: normal Component: Request-a-Hack
Severity: normal Keywords: gettext translation localization
Cc: Trac Release: 0.12

Description

This plugin would look into the code tree for pot files and would offer a html form for adding a translation ala launchpad.net. The form should show the messages to translate and one input field for each message.

Trac Release: 0.110.12

Just a suggestion: Certainly you could do whatever is thinkable. But why duplicate efforts, since this is available with Transifex? Well, not a Trac plugin, but is working well to lower the limit for translators.

Isn't this already included in Trac 0.12?

Replying to stoecker:

No. Trac has full i18n support, translations for almost all user visible messages and i18n helper functions to share this architecture with plugins as well.

But the request here - as I do understand it - is actually about integrating an embedded translation editor. As I said before I can't see the big advantage over Transifex, that could satisfy the effort needed to bring this into life. And with Transifex any translation effort is guaranteed to be shared with others. It would be an extra step, to share translations created by this plugin.
