Description
it would be nice to give the users a hint on registration what the username should look like, ideally with an arbitrary text.
example:
Register
Pleas choose your windows user-id because we will enable windows password check in 6 months. You do not have to re-register then, and also your queries and tickets stay with you.

maybe a wiki page could be "included", then you have it automatically?
Using wiki pages to configure other Trac modules is discouraged since not all users will have the Wiki module enabled.
Regarding the original request, I don't really understand the need for users registering instead of just using your Windows authentication now. If you can't hook Trac into your network authentication, but need users to follow a naming convention it seems like the administrator should be creating those accounts.
In the interest of keeping things simple I'd like to avoid adding an option for that unless there's some common use case for it, which I don't see right now.
If you want to enable registration with that warning I'd recommend just editing the template.

I still don't see a good reason for this. If you can come up with another example feel free to post it and I may reconsider.
