#4408 assigned defect

Chart line precision (dealing with fractions of an hour)

Reported by: Filipe Correia Owned by: daan
Priority: low Component: ScrumBurndownPlugin
Severity: normal Keywords:
Cc: Filipe Correia Trac Release: 0.11

Description

Although one of my milestones has still half an hour to go, the burndown line is already touching the bottom of the chart (pls see the attached picture).

At first, I though it might had something to do with issue #3490 of the TimingAndEstimationPlugin, but i've fixed that one (by upgrading pysqlite) and haven't seen any change on the chart, so it might not have anything to do with it.

Hi Filipe,

The burndown plugin registers integers for remaining hours. So, this will not work.

Is this a major issue? If so, I'll put it on my list and it will get fixed. I have to change the column format for that to something like float...

Hi Daan,

Well, yes, the projects where i'm using this plugin happen to frequently use fractions of an hour. However, although it would be nice to have all the precision we can get in the chart, I agree there are more important things to address.

I've tried now looking in the source, but can't put more effort into it right now (I hope to be able to do it in the next few days). Anyway, I was trying to find how the value that get's presented with the label "current effort remaining" (above the chart) is being calculated. It gets displayed as if it was a float ('0.5 hours', in the attached screenshot). If this value comes from the burndown collected data (and not directly from the TimingAndEstimationPlugin data), I'm guessing there should be a way to use float data in the chart too, without altering the schema.
