Description
We just migrated to Trac from Bugzilla. The only feature we miss is the ability to clone a ticket into the new ticket fields. It would be great to have the Clone a Trac Ticket functionality.

There's now #T4686.
I see it, but #T4686 talks about a front-end that olivermn wrote for pushing tickets in to Trac and then monitoring those multiple grouped tickets with that front-end application. Perhaps the clone functionality could be implemented in a way that helps ticket 4686, but I would request that the clone functionality also work within Trac and not have a dependency on or within the other front-end application.
#T4298 (referenced by #T4686) is similar in requesting a way to group similar tickets across multiple versions of a Component/Application. If the clone functionality inserted referneces to the original and the cloned tickets (put a reference to the orignal in the clones, put a reference to the clones in the original), that might meet the needs of #T4298.

... therefore I'm closing the ticket.
I've been searching unsuccessfully (so far) to see if an official Edgewall feature was created/scheduled, or if a plug-in was created for this feature. I'd also like to see it. In supporting multiple versions of a software product, the ability to clone a ticket so that separate but identical tickets exist for each version in which the enhancement/defect will be implemented would be nice. As long as we're discussing how this could work, when cloning a ticket:
1) allow certain fields to be left blank or replaced with an expression. For example, in the cloned ticket, replace the Description with "This is a clone of ticket #123 for the purpose of tracking similar changes in branched versions of the component. See the original ticket for details." One of my colleagues also came from a former bugzilla shop and mentioned this feature (like the originator of this ticket).
