A pull request is a request (or proposal) to pull certain changes. Pull is standard terminology from source control systems like Git or Mercurial. Basically it is a method of submitting contributions. The contributor has a clone of the main repository, pushes his proposed changes to that clone, then submits a pull request. The pull request contains the information required to merge these changes back to the main repository. Usually this means the URL of the repository and a branch (Git) or bookmark name (Mercurial).

The wiki page already contains all the explanations that seemed required to me.
Can you please explain a bit more what is not clear?
I am assuming the readers understand common source control terms like pull. Otherwise they don't need this plugin anyway or should read up on the topic elsewhere.
