Disable browser autocomplete?

Description

My browser already has a rudimentary popup to autocomplete simple text input. This popup overlaps the (better) WikiAutoCompletePlugin popup:

Should autocomplete="off" be used to disable the browser popup?

Replying to anonymous:

Yes, I think so. I recall using that property for similar plugins.

Similar case: it looks like the autocomplete jQuery plugin sets the property.
