Have you tried turning them into patches?

comment:3 Changed 15 years ago by Ryan J Ollos

I did try that ... its a bit of a mess. Some of the version differ by almost a complete rewrite, and its difficult to determine which versions were derived from which other versions.

I know too well, done that for WikiTicketCalendarMacro before.

Low maintenance and high user interest led to a number of contributions not turned into real revisions for a long time and so made the same mess there. It took me literally weeks to sort out all the dependencies by implicit branching etc. between the various versions, to get unique features extracted, to merged them into a unified release, not to mention collecting time and content information for proper contribute to the patch authors.

So I dunno, what to do here. I can't effort the time to repeat it here, but certainly will have a look at the contributions, since we have #7564 and I'd really like to get the strengths and turn them into improvements of WikiTicketCalendarMacro.

Would you mind attaching a tar archive containing these file then? So they would be accessible again. I was already looking and not able to find them before, only knowing we had such patch collection tickets for both, WikiCalendar and WikiTicketCalendar.

As you may have already noticed, despite of my initial unwillingness to do another big plugin history research I've done a changelog for WikiCalendarMacro too. This could be improved, if I had access to the aforementioned files, at least referencing them inside the changelog.

Meanwhile I'll just move on and integrate existing functionality into new trunk branch, so no need to hurry with this issue here.

I can't seem to find them on my local disk. I thought I had attached them to a ticket, so I'm looking through the other tickets now. I may have lost them since it has been so long now ... very sorry!

I doubt that you'll be more lucky than me. I've been searching to no avail for WikiCalendarMacro. For WikiTicketCalendarMacro the attachment were helpful figuring out history and giving proper contribution. However, current state is fair, much better then nothing.

Me too. But I know similar situation only too good. In a number of occasions only my habit of keeping/working on various copies simultaneously saved my from being bombed back to zero; i.e. nice to have a dedicated build directory, when writing code with Mercurial Queues patch stack, since the patches loose valuable changes a bit too easy by just updating to any current state.

Resolution: wontfix
Status: newclosed

If the plugin versions, that this ticket is referring to, are gone forever, this is a pointless task.

But this is not the end, more the contrary: See #7564 for the ongoing development, that most probably will satisfy most of the demand addressed by the lost custom version before. And hopefully a lot more as I guess.

Please don't follow-up here, but open a new ticket per issue or enhancement request respectively. Thanks to everyone for taking care.
